MATCH FUNDING: Thanks to a generous Match Funding partner, donations and pledges will be doubled up to £15,000. This means that a donation of £25 will have another £25 added by our partner, giving a value of £50! Please give what you can to support the Lukkomano Christian Academy in Zambia.
Between 18th May and 30th May 2024, Feed The Hungry Director, Gavin Kibble MBE walked over 200 miles from coast-to-coast in the North of England to raise money for The Lukkomano Christian Academy in Mazabuka, Zambia.
There’s something about turning 60 that is quite difficult to articulate. On the one hand I have been around for a fairly long time (obviously not in geological terms) on the other hand I feel mentally as lively as I did at the age of 40 but physically my body isn’t in quite the same place. The recent extraction of a broken tooth is testament to that; a heart attack two years indicated that something more significant needed to change!
Sometimes new ideas are birthed from an amalgam of ambitions.
Last year my wife and I agreed that we would try and do 60 significant things in the two years around our 60th birthdays (I’m only 6 months older than her) – the usual experience things such as visiting places, countries, theatre and concerts. And lots of walking.
In 2019 I visited a school in Mazabuka, Zambia. The school caters for children orphaned by the impact AIDS pandemic. Feed the Hungry provides regular meals for these children, but that’s not enough. They need an education, and to do that they need school classrooms and equipment.
So, I’ve set myself a challenge that this year I will try and raise £60,000 to help change the lives of these children by walking across England in May. Would you consider partnering with me in this amazing adventure by sponsoring my walk.
Thank you,
Gavin Kibble, MBE
